13th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Auction
On October 16, 2016 fifty intrepid participants braved power outages during the week and came to share in the celebration of Thanksgiving for the Gabriola Ecumenical Societies 13th annual potluck dinner.
There was a hive of activity as many people decorated the Community Hall and the Kitchen Volunteers arranged a wonderful array of food for us to enjoy. There was a baking and produce table with many treats available by donation.
A special thanks to Eric and Sue Boulton who once again provided the Thanksgiving turkey, to those who cooked them and to those who graced the table with delicious vegetables and desserts.
Our volunteers play a special role in an event like this. We tip our hats to the organizers, kitchen staff, doormen and those setting up and dismantling the tables.
Richard Pullano, the auctioner, easily obtained bids for the nine items: mostly services such as delicious cakes, pies, and Christmas puddings for special occasions, or a deluxe Car Wash etc. from participants after dinner. Once again thanks to the support of many additional funds for community events were realized.
It is always nice to see friends and families gathered at these events.
We would love to see you at next year’s dinner. Remember this is our annual fund raising event!
