Celebrate the evening before Lent with the Gabriola Ecumenical Society at our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Mardi Gras, on February 28th, 5 pm at the Community Hall. We’ll have a traditional all-you-can-eat pancake supper, and a Pancake Flipping Race. Then make your own Mardi Gras masks and costumes from the dress-up box and mask-making table, and join the Mardi Gras parade, with music to lift the spirits. Please bring items to share for the dress-up box and mask-making table, and your own dishes, cutlery, and beverages. Thank you to David & Shelagh for organizing this event.
This Year’s Theme
Celebrating 20 Years of Spiritual Questing, Welcoming Future Growth
Ecumenical is derived from the Greek word Oikoumene, which means the whole inhabited world; in this sense, the Gabriola Ecumenical Society embraces all expressions of spirituality.
Spiritual connection is a universally human trait, though practices vary around the world and even among individuals of the same belief system. GES has always looked to Unity in Diversity and Spiritual Inclusivity as guideposts in our programming.
