Our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Auction was held at the Gabriola Community Hall on Sunday October 21st 2012 from 5:30 to 8:00pm.
Although not as many attended this year due to many of our membership being away, or dealing with major illness, the evening was a major success. Those who attended expressed deep appreciation for the wonderful food which was so beautifully arranged on the buffet table. The room was very festive with bright orange tablecloths and Thanksgiving centerpieces.
As in past years the Boulton’s supplied the turkeys while volunteers cooked them and supplied all the trimmings. Eric, our auctioneer encouraged all who attended to bring their children and grandchildren next year. His grandchildren were the stars of the auction and were enthusiastically involved in the bidding and were proud to take home a number of the items.
The auction brought in $482.oo and the 50/50 draw $70.00. Proceeds from these will be distributed to various charities on the Island. Donations at the door of $313.00 will help fund the various programs we have during the year.
Many, many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped with a very special thank you to Sue Lissack, Eileen McConnell and Randy McCarthy who coordinated the event.
