On the evening of October 27 we hosted a presentation by Harold Johnson at the Community Hall with a great turnout of 45 people. Harold a Cree/Swedish elder told stories of his life and his people struggles with alcohol and other hardships faced by our prairie First Nation people. Harold’s upbringing on the trap line prepared him to face many of life’s challenges fearlessly. Through out his life and career as a lawyer he has discovered that the stories we tell ourselves often become our reality and have the power to heal and to kill.
We are blessed to have Harold make his home here on Gabriola and look forward to hearing more stories and encouragement to empowering ourselves by the stories we choose to tell ourselves.
