TAIZE CHANT

Submitted by Jacquie Jessup

On Saturday February 20, 2016 the Gabriola Ecumenical Society hosted an enchanting hour of Taize Chant. Leah and Tejomaya provided the musical direction for an enthusiastic group of 76 participants. The United Church sanctuary was lit by the evening sunset as we sang the haunting melodies of Taize Chant interspersed with silence to remember our dear friend Lynn Holden and to reflect on her many contributions to our organization and life in general on Gabriola for the past 25 years.

Early in her medical practice, Dr Lynn Holden encountered clinical depression and eventually had to leave her practice. For 40 years Lynn struggled with this disease but during this time she reached out to countless others who were going through difficult times. Lynn was a founding member of the Gabriola Ecumenical Society, on the Board of Directors, and was an always to be counted on Volunteer. Her motto was helping one person at a time and this she did beautifully as was evident by the number of people who attended this event. $500.00 was raised and donated to CMHA BC Division
