A total of $664 was raised by the Gabriola Ecumenical Society at an auction held at their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Auction, the society reports.

Eric Boulton was the auctioneer, who as always, did a magnificent job of encouraging Islanders to part with their money. The dinner and auction took place at the Gabriola Community Hall, Oct 16. 2011.  Up for auction were: a painting by Rev. Rohanna Laing, fine wines, baskets of exotic vinaigrettes, pumpkins, squash; a fishing rod, and so much more.

Dinner was enjoyed by all who brought salads and main courses, while the Boultons made their annual contribution of roast turkey.

The money will be divided equally between People for a Healthy Community, the Gabriola Elementary School Lunch Program and the Gathering Place.

Approximately 80 people attended the GES Thanksgiving Dinner  Many generous volunteers helped with organizing and setting up the hall and also with cooking the turkeys and trim.
The donations from the Door raised $400.00  which will help support our programs. Many thanks to everyone who helped and/or participated in the dinner and auction.
