This year’s annual summer picnic was attended by 52 people. This fun summer event included: great food, and a joyous sing-a-long! 4 Island Churches were represented as well as many friends from the community at large. As in previous years our very own Marilyn, John and Herman led us in song. Various volunteers barbequed the hamburgers and hot dogs and prepared the food table, while others entertained themselves with various games and conversation. The beautiful setting of Anne’s garden on the shores of the Gabriola Passage added to every ones’ enjoyment.
This Year’s Theme
Celebrating 20 Years of Spiritual Questing, Welcoming Future Growth
Ecumenical is derived from the Greek word Oikoumene, which means the whole inhabited world; in this sense, the Gabriola Ecumenical Society embraces all expressions of spirituality.
Spiritual connection is a universally human trait, though practices vary around the world and even among individuals of the same belief system. GES has always looked to Unity in Diversity and Spiritual Inclusivity as guideposts in our programming.
