Taize at the Labyrinth Gabriola Commons

in 2012-2013, Meditation, Sacred Celebration

On June 23, 2013, a misty Sunday afternoon, a small group of people braved the elements  to celebrate together. As  Taize melodies were chanted  in  beautiful harmony, some slowly meandered through the  field of white daises which marked  the labyrinth.

The day began with  heavy rain and many,  believing  the event would be cancelled  did not venture forth.  However,  much to the appreciation of those attending, Susan Murray, the organizer, was  committed to continue with the plan   as it had previously been postponed.  As you may notice in the photo, Leah our musician,  was undaunted by the weather. Both Leah and her piano were  well protected by the little pup tent supplied by Susan and Sandy Murray. Once again she  performed her magic both with keyboard and voice  and was accompanied at times by Mary’s drumming.  There were also a variety of percussion instruments available which Susan encouraged participants to join in and play.

Many thanks to the amazing Commons volunteers who mowed a path through the tall wet grasses down to the  Labyrinth so that it was even wheelchair accessible!

A magical afternoon for those attending.
