Gabriola Ecumenical Society Forum
Unfortunately this “The Spiritual Activist forum with Dan Hines is being rescheduled to the spring of 2016 due to scheduling conflicts. There will be no Spring forum this year but the programming year 2014/2015 has been very rich in a varied range of programming, events and speakers.”
Facilitator: Dan Hines
How do I discern my work in the midst of injustice and so many needs?
In what practices might I deepen my personal voice and agency?
How do I creatively hold the tension between the Ideal and the Real?
Together, we will encourage one other to rediscover ‘blessed unrest’: an informed, active and loving resistance to the world as it is.
This action is found in an inner integrity and its restless longing for a better world. We will also consider the false separation between spirituality and social activism.
In large-group, small-group, and solitary practices, the forum will make use of personal stories and insights from poets, storytellers, and various wisdom traditions.
Dan Hines will guide the experience. He facilitates personal and professional development programs for leaders in business, educational, religious, and other organizations. He is a facilitator with the Center for Courage and Renewal and has been mentored in facilitation by Parker J. Palmer.
Dan is an ordained priest in the Anglican Church of Canada and co-founded the RareBirds Housing Co-operative where he lives in Kamloops, BC.
