Community Event – Seniors Connect

May 9, 2019

May 9, 2019
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Christ Church Gabriola

Lori Amdam, a RN from Nanaimo, will be presenting a workshop on how all of us can support seniors, especially with social isolation, which she says can shorten life as much as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day.

This informative meeting will present a Neighbourhood Tool Kit, and will show us how to organize ways to reach out as faith communities to be of service to seniors in need. You can preview the toolkit here.

This workshop is not just for people who may be able to provide some support, but also for people who may need support.

“Compassionate Gabriola”, an umbrella grass-roots organization, whose members have been meeting at Christ Church for a number of months, is interested in providing support for people, not necessarily for hospice or grief work, but in ways in which we can be the neighbour or friend for people (not necessarily seniors) who need someone to give them a hand for tasks that are difficult for them.

All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

This workshop is sponsored by the Outreach committee of Christ Church Gabriola, and the “Compassionate Gabriola” group.  See you there!
