Living Dances, Ancient Roots

November 10, 2019

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Gabriola Community Hall

Gabriola Ecumenical Society’s theme for this year is “Spirit In Action: Healing Ourselves, Our Community and our Earth”. What a great opportunity for us to Co-sponsor an event with the Gabriola Caravan Folkdancers!

A late cancellation in Nanaimo is a lucky break for us who suddenly have the chance to experience world-renowned dance instructor, writer, healer, recording artist and beautiful spirit – Laura Shannon.

Traditional dances embody an ancient worldview of sustainability, community, and reverence for the earth. Laura’s teaching seeks to rekindle our understanding of this worldview, to bring greater awareness, gratitude and joy into our dancing and into our lives. Coming from cultures which historically have survived many periods of change, these dances teach skills and transmit messages that can guide us lovingly through difficult times.

Laura will teach simple and less simple line and circle dances (non-partner) to amazing ancient and modern music.
