The Tapolca Mosaic Portal is a Cemetery art mural created on Gabriola Island and now located in the chapel of the Jewish cemetery in Tapolca, Hungary. It is part of a local, national and international effort of rejuvenation and recognition of the town’s cultural heritage there.
The artist of this unique cemetery art project, Dar Mace, is a long-time resident of Gabriola. Dar also designed and created the stained glass windows at Christ Church, so it its most appropriate that our event will happen there. Her talk will be about the research, symbolism and meaning behind this artwork and how art as a spiritual activity can be transformative in our communities.
