On July 6th an enthusiastic audience of about 45 people gathered at the Net Loft to listen to Swami Muktibodhananda Saraswati from the Bihar School of Yoga speak about the ancient science of Yantra. We learned that a Yantra is a sacred geometric arrangement designed to encourage positive energies, aid concentration and harness energies to accomplish specific goals.

A Mantra is a Sanskrit word or phrase used to energize a Yantra, and specific deities have particular Yantras and Mantras. The circle, square, oval and triangle are common geometric elements in a Yantra. A Mandala is a Yantra that includes non-geometric elements.

Midway through the presentation, Ode Howard led us as we joined our voices in an uplifting devotional Kirtan. Finally, Swami Muktibodhananda led a calming, beautiful visualization on the seven chakras. When it was over, we were left with a wonderful feeling of peace and gratitude. We are grateful to Swami for her beautiful energy and gifts, and for to all who came to be a part of this special occasion!

Thanks to Brenda Gaertner for holding space for us at the Net Loft, and to the organizers of the event, and to all who participated.
